May Weekend Anniversary Celebration

7:00 p.m. - Social Gathering

Present and past members and the General Public were invited to this social gathering to meet one another, talk with friends. This fellowship gathering was the kickoff to a great weekend, including:

- coffee / tea / punch
- Anniversary Cake
- sing song

The songs included hymns from an 1881 hymn book that are still sung in church today

4:00 p.m. - Tree Planting

There was a tree planting ceremony held behind the United Church, commemorating our 100th Anniversary

4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. - Supper

Supper was a great success enjoyed by all. The history of the Athabasca United Church was available to view

Guests returned from far and wide for the celebration. Jim & Marion Sodergren of Fort St. John, British Columbia were married in this church March 28, 1964 and returned to help us celebrate

6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Ceremony

Sunday, May 23

1030 a.m. - Sunday Service

Time Capsule - immediately following service

- small, meaningful items were put in the time capsule
- time capsule will be sealed for 100 years

2:30 p.m. Strawberry Tea

7:00 p.m. Concert

Choir Director, Marion Kadikoff presented the United Church Choir and friends. An evening of music with a variety of sounds and themes. From Spiritual to Country and Gospel to Standard, this concert entertained all.

Athabasca Rodeo Parade - Saturday, June 5

Neil Johnston {Willow Meadow Fjords} of Colinton and Tom Krawec represented Athabasca United Church in the parade.

Neil is driving Rose and Tom is riding Geni - both horses are Norwegian Fjords owned by Neil

Neil is representing the home-made carts & wagons that were used years ago.

Tom is representing the mode of transportation early ministers used throughout their parish
